POSITION DESCRIPTION:

ASSISTANT COACHING INSTRUCTOR (PART-TIME)

General Function:

This is a part-time skilled position in the active supervision of recreation activities.  The part-time Assistant Coaching Instructor will, under the direction of the supervisor and Coaching Instructor,  supervise and lead participants in recreation sports class activities.  This position may require working at a variety of sites and programs throughout the year. (Hours available: 2-8 per week)

Responsibilities:

•  Direct responsibility for the supervision of program participants.
• Assist in the instruction of sports classes under the supervision of the Coaching Instructor.
• Responsible for encouraging the involvement of all participants in the sports activities.
• Instruct participants in good citizenship, sportsmanship and safety while setting a good example.
• Provide each participant the opportunity to succeed by being helpful and courteous.
• Encourage and serve as a positive role model for the program participants.
• Responsible for participation in all activities, thus providing a positive attitude toward program participants and staff.
• Maintain communication with staff, participants and parents.
• Maintain safety rules and standards set by the SC ROOKIES.
• Follow all SC ROOKIES policies and procedures.
• Report all problems and concerns to the Supervisor.
• Be prepared to provide minor first aid needs as they may occur.
• Complete other related tasks as required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience teaching or working with children.
• Previous experience in playing recreational sports activities.

Requirements:

• At least 18 years of age.
• Three personal or professional references (upon request).
• Background check prior to employment.
